Wonderful original copperplate engraving by Angus after the drawing by the Admiralty-appointed official artist on the voyage of Captain Cook, John Webber (1751-1793). This engraving was first published in London circa 1780 for Hawkesworth’s “Complete History of Captain Cook's First, Second and Third Voyages”. This engraving circa 1784 was 'published as the Act directs, by Harrison & Co. for "Gentleman's Magazine" in London circa 1790. It would have been published in black and white, so has had fine hand-colour from a later date.

Page measures 210 x 260cm (8.25 x 10.25 inches). To the intaglio impression measures 145 x 285mm (5.75 x 11.75 inches). This wonderful engraving on hand-made paper has a repaired hole in the middle of the engraving (not discernable from the front), and slight watermark and soiling of edges of the page. (It has been priced appropriately.)
