Superb Antique Print: View of the Bastile St Anthony's Gate and part of the Suburbs of Paris.

A lovely original 18th century copperplate engraving for “Middleton’s Complete System of Geography”published in London circa 1777-8 by Charles Theodore Middleton. This work included wonderful illustrations of ethnography and architecture as well as topography.

This engraving has been finely tinted with watercolour at some date since publication. Page measures approximately 23 x 36cm. (9 x 14 inches). Measurement to intaglio impression 19 x 24cm (7.5 x 9.5 inches).
