Napoléon François, Joseph Charles Bonaparte, (2 March 1811- 22 July 1832) was the son of Emperor Napoleon I and Marie Louise of Austria. (Napoleon divorced Josephine when she bore him no children.)
Declared Prince Imperial of France and King of Rome from birth. After his father's removal from power a few weeks later, following his defeat at the Battle of Waterloo, Napoleon Francis and his mother retreated to Vienna, where he remained the rest of his short life. From the age of 7 he was granted the title of Franz, Duke of Reichstadt by the Austrian Emperor.
This is a charming engraving after a portrait. Published in Paris c1826 (with delicate later hand-colour).
