The busy gold town of Balaarat, also sometimes spelt Balaarat. This is a wonderful view of Ballarat during the goldrushes.

Fine original steel engraving by J. Saddler after a sketch by prominent English topographical engraver James Charles Armytage (1802-1897) for Edwin Carton Booth’s “Australia Illustrated” published in London by Virtue and Co. c1874 (with later colour).  With people and bullock-pulled cart in the foreground this is a lovely view. The scanned image does not do it justice.

There is soiling towards the edges of the wide margins, but the image is in good condition It is in good condition. Page size is 21 x 27cm (8.1/4 x 10.5/8 inches). Image Size is 12cm x 20cm (4.3/4 x 7.7/8 inches).
