Original wood engraving by Butler, of a relatively undeveloped Hobart, for Cassell's Picturesque Australasia by Professor of English at the Melbourne University, Edward Ellis Morris (1843-1902). Published in Melbourne circa 1889 (with later fine hand-colour).
This is a lovely but rarely seen antique engraving. It has been mounted between antique-white conservation ragmat, and covered with cellophane for presentation and protective handling until it is framed.
Window area of the mounted antique print is 125 x 150mm (approximatelly 5 x 6 inches). The external mount for frame window measures 246 x 270mm (9.3/4 x 10.3/4 inches).
