Macquarie Street, Sydney buildings in 1848, antique print, with four rows of buildings showing elevations of the properties on both sides of the street.

Original engraving by W. Harris circa 1848 of the Georgian architecture of the period drawn by Joseph Fowles, who was drawing master at many private schools in Sydney and was referred to as "Father of Drawing in the  city" for his Views of Sydney. Fowles recorded the early colonial buildings in the main streets of Sydney. He even named many of the buildings and their occupants. This engraving is much enhanced by fine later hand-colour.

Page size 214 x 270. There is a tiny nick out of the top right corner of the paper. There is a tiny tear into the edge of the page on right at upper line of second street. The lower edge of this page has a tear up to the base of the builing (just in front of the word "street", and there are several nicks out of the paper along the lower edge. The two small tears have archival repairs.
