GOLD DIGGINGS in AUSTRALIA. Wedding Celebrations.

Drinking champagne in a carriage. "Never was such an exhibition witnessed in the streets of any city before." Original wood engraving 'from authentic sketches taken in the colony' (by S.T. Gill) for John Sherer’s “The Gold-Finder of Australia - How he went, How he fared, How he made his fortune” published in London circa 1853. London-based Sherer added descriptive captions below each of his engravings of the Australian goldfields.

Engraved page measures 13 x22 cm (5 x 8.5 inches). Image measures 110 x 165cm (4.25 x 6.5 inches). A group of these, framed on the wall, would be an interesting historical statement.
