Wonderful collection of early American Indian Weapons, Utensils, Ornaments.

Fine original chromolithograph printed by the Bibliographisches Institut, Leipzig, and published in 1904 for The History of Mankind by German geographer and ethnographer, Professor Friedrich Ratzel (1844-1904). Ratzel studied zoology and became familiar with theories relating to the migration of species. In 1869 Ratzel published a commentary on the work of Darwin. As a correspondent for the Kolnische Zeitung (Cologne Journal) he toured North and Central America during 1874-1875. On his return to Germany he taught at the technical university of Munich 1875-1876 and at the University of Leipzig (1886-1904).

Remains of hinging tape on back suggest this antique print might have been framed previously. Image measures 20.5 x 13 cm (8 x 5 1/8 inches). Page 24.5 x 16.5 cm (9 5/8 x 6.5 inches)
