Ribbons and Bows, 1920's Fashion pochoir. Croquis XIX

by David

Gazette du Bon Ton 1920s Paris Fashion Sketch. Croquis XIX - by the David sisters.

Original pochoir published in Paris circa 1922 for Gazette du Bon Ton (Journal of Good Style), the exclusive publication that introduced the latest superior fashion styles.

Pochoir, the French word for stencil, was the labour-intensive method of illustration by hand-colouring with gouache and watercolour, through separate stencils for each colour. The finest illustrators of the day introduced fashions by prominent French designers in Gazette du Bon Ton, published by Lucien Vogel in Paris between 1912 and 1925.
