Beautiful 1920s fashion. Robe d'apres-midi et robe de jeune fille, de Jeanne Lanvin Jaquette bordée, de Larsen.
Lady's afternoon dress and girl's dress designed by Jeanne Lanvin. Man's knee-length tail-coat designed by Larsen.

Delightful original hand-coloured pochoir fashion plate circa 1922 by Pierre Brissaud (1885-1964), with exceptionally crisp definition for La Gazette du Bon Ton (Journal of Good Style), the exclusive publication that introduced the latest superior designs from the Paris couturiers. Brissaud was one of four regular fashion illustration contributors for Gazette du Bon Ton. He presented each new style within a delightful fashion narrative, depicting the privileged lifestyle of the period.

Pochoir was a labour-intensive process with a separate stencil cut for each successive application of ink, watercolour or gouache. French fashion artists' mastery of this stencil process resulted in worldwide adoption of the French term 'pochoir' (stencil).
