Beautiful young ladies in exquisite French wedding gowns designed by Madame Fladry of rue Richer, 43 in Paris.

Original wood engraving from a late 19th century French fashion periodical, La Mode Illustré (with fine late hand-colour). Fashion periodicals had their heydey in the late 19th century, when the most skilled engraving on wood was achieved. The space between the carved lines effectively produces the effect of lustrous fabric - which has been highlighted by the skilled colourist.
There is text on the reverse of this engraving but it does not refer to the fashions.

The engraving measures 175 x 235mm (6 7/8 x 9 1/4 inches). This lovely engraving has been mounted between antique white ragmat conservation board, and covered for protection until framed. External measurement for framing is 320 x 380mm (12 5/8 x 15 inches).
