Gazette du Bon Ton double-page antique print of fine fashion c1914.
Robes d'apres-midi et robe du soir de Doucet. (Afternoon dresses and evening dress designed by Doucet.

Delightful large original pochoir circa 1914 by Pierre Brissaud (1885-1964) for La Gazette du Bon Ton (Journal of Good Style). The finest fashion illustrators of the day portrayed the latest styles by prominent French designers. Brissaud was one of the four regular contributors for this exclusive periodical. His pochoirs provide a charming fashion narrative of the period.

Gazette de Bon Ton was published by Lucien Vogel in Paris between 1912 and 1925, and distributed by Condé Nast. The portrayal of fashion by the pochoir method was perfected by skilful artists in France, and this French word for stencil has been adopted worldwide since that time. Pochoir was a labour-intensive process, with a separate stencil cut for successive applications of watercolour.

Double page size: 240 x 380mm (9.5 x 15 inches). The image measures 160 x 315mm (6.25 x 12.5 inches).
