Using the distinctive pochoir style which was perfected during the production of this publication, the latest fashion is shown in an appropriate setting. Original hand-coloured pochoir by the finest illustrators of the day, introduced fashions by prominent French designers, for Gazette du Bon Ton (Gazette of Good Style - the periodical for the well-to-do), published by Lucien Vogel in Paris between 1912 and 1925 (except during World War I), and distributed by Condé Nast.

Pochoir, the French word for stencil, was the labour-intensive method of illustration with skilful hand-coloured application of gouache and watercolour, through separate stencils for each colour.
