Robe de Satin topaze garnie de Leopard Manchon aussi de Leopard.

A charming small original 1913 pochoir by Jan van Brock for Journal des Dames et des Modes, Costumes Parisiens which was published by Paul Poiret from 1912 to 1914. Similar to Gazette du Bon Ton (Gazette of Good Style), but even more scarce with a small circulation and short publication period, Journal des Dames et des Modes, Costumes Parisiens (Journal of Ladies and Fashion, Parisian Dress) presented a total of only 186 different pochoir fashion plates.

Specialist fashion artists used an intricate, labour-intensive style of illustration for small hand-coloured pochoir (stencils) of the latest fashion designs. Up to 20 stencils were cut for each pochoir to enable the gouache and watercolour to be applied delicately and with finesse. The most notable artists for Journal des Dames et des Modes were Umberto Bruneslleschi, Leon Bakst, George Barbier, Roger Broders, Etienne Drian, Maurice Taquoy, Armand Vallée, and Gerda Wegener.

Page size is 220 x 145mm. Image to border measures 155 x 90mm.
