Putti with spears and dogs, hunting deer. Fresco. Antique print of winged cherubs at work and play. This is one of a charming series of small 18th century engravings of Putti at Work and Play.

Original mezzotint engraved on copper c1757 by Roccus Pozzi after a drawing by Francesco Lavega for the most important 18th century archaeological documentation, of excavations at Pompeii, Ercolano (Herculaneum) and Stabiae, - hundreds of years after the region was covered by the eruption of Mt Vesuvius in AD79. Published in Naples circa 1757, with patronage of King Charles II.

This small antique print has fine later gouache colour. The engraving is mounted between 'antique white' conservation rag mat board, and covered with cellophane for protection. External size for frame is 235 x 285mm (9 1/4  x 11 1/4 inches). Image window is 115 x 165mm (4 1/2 x 6 1/2 inches)
