Hawkesbury coat of arms with eagles, antique print c1790.

by Catton, Charles/Chesham

Free of Dust, motto, Palma non sine pulvere.

Original copperplate engraving by draughtsman, etcher, line and aquatint engraver Francis Chesham (1749-1806) after a drawing by Charles Catton (1756-1819) for The English Peerage published in London circa 1790. Published on 18th century hand-made paper, this small coat of arms has fine later hand-colour - which certainly adds to its appeal.

This half-page engraving has been mounted between 'antique white' conservation ragmat board, and covered with cellophane for protection until framed. Image within window measures 110 mm x 175 mm (4.25 x 7 inches). External mount for frame window is approximately 240 x 305 mm (9 1/2 x 12 inches).
