Charming small 18th century engraving of Putti in Pompeii fresco celebrating Peace. Engraved on copper c1760 by Nicolaus Vanni after a drawing by Francesco Lavega for the most important eighteenth century documentation of the archaeological excavations at Pompeii, Ercolano (Herculaneum) and Stabiae (Campania) on the Bay of Naples which had been covered by lava since Mt Vesuvius erupted in AD79. With patronage of the King, Charles II, published in Naples between 1757 and 1792.

This small image has been mounted in conservation board, and covered with cellophane for presentation and protection until framed. External measurement is 29 x 34cm (11 3/8 x 13 3/8 inches). Engraving window size 13 x 18cm (5 1/8 x 7 inches)
