Original wood engraving by E. Evans from the painting by English landscape painter Henry Jutsum (1816-1869) - from the exhibition of the British Institution. Jutsum first exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1836, and from time to time also showed his work at the British Institution. He was elected a member of the New Watercolour Society, but usually, by preference, painted in oils.

This hand-coloured antique print is a half-page of The Illustrated London News published in 1845. TheIllustrated London News was the world's first graphic newspaper. Publishedweekly from 1842, its engraved images of events and discoveries from around theworld ensured its popularity. Engravings from this publication have always beenavidly collected and hand-tinted with watercolour for further enjoyment. The full page size would have been 41 x 29 cm (approximately 16 x 11 inches). This engraving measures approximately 17 x 24cm  (6.75 x 9.5 inches).
