by Preston, Chloe

Children & Puppy antique print. Paddling: Marooned on a sand-bank. Peek-a-Boo Chloe Preston Illustration c1912.

Children's story illustration. Building a sand castle, Peek a Boo did not see the tide coming in. Marooned on a sandbank with her puppy, she is waiting for rescue.

Chloe Preston colour-printed lithograph for "The Peek-a-Boo's Holiday", written by her brother Tom and published in London circa 1912.  Chloe Preston was born in 1887 and grew up in a gentrified English country environment. Illustrations for her first book "The Peek-a-Boo's", were published in London in 1910.  The clear simple outlines and bright colours of her humorous images portray simple excursions and activities.  They remain favourites with children and adults alike.
