Original copperplate engraving by Thomas Milton c1813 (later colour) for The Cyclopaedia; or, Universal Dictionary of Arts, Sciences and Literature by Abraham Rees. The grandest, most comprehensive publication ever published early in the 19th century, it was published by Longman, Hurst, Rees, Orme & Brown of Paternoster Row, London.

After working for many years of revisions for Chamber's Cyclopedia, Abraham Rees employed foremost illustrators and experts in each field to produce seven volumes of familiar and unusual subjects encompassing the universe - with over 240 superb illustrations of groups of each subject, carefully engraved on copper plates for each volume.
