Original lithograph printed in colour and published in Sydney circa 1891 for The Birds of Australia by Gracius Broinowski (1837-1913).

The son of a landowner and military officer, Gracius was born in Poland. He studied languages, classics and art at Munich University. At 20 years of age he left Poland for Australia. Arriving in Portland, Victoria, he worked for a printer and publisher, then spent many years travelling around Australia. From 1880 he taught painting in Sydney and lithographed the birds of New Zealand and the mammals and birds of Australia.

Page size 10 x 14.1/8 inches (approx.25 x 36cm). As usual, this page is fragile and age-discoloured. Lower left corner missing (shown in pic) and small edges missing at upper right and lower right corners. Priced accordingly.
