Lovely original hand-coloured lithograph of John Gould Gannets by Henry Constantine Richter for Gould's 'Birds of Australia', published in London between 1840 and 1848. John Gould was known as 'The Bird Man'. He employed the finest lithographers of the day to create large hand-coloured lithographs that are considered the finest Australian bird illustrations ever done. John Gould had an excellent eye for detail, and closely supervised the work of his lithographers.

In good condition, with beautiful hand-colour, the digital image does not do justice to this fine antique print. Once again, our scanner not being large enough, we have provided a close-up to show the beauty of this lithograph of gannets. The size is as published, 535 x 370mm (21 x 14.5 inches).
