Superb original hand-coloured lithograph of John Gould Australian ducks by Henry Constantine Richter for Gould's 'Birds of Australia', published in London between 1840 and 1848. John Gould was known as 'The Bird Man'. He employed the finest lithographers of the day to create large hand-coloured lithographs that are some of the finest bird illustrations ever done. John Gould had an excellent eye for detail, and closely supervised the work of his lithographers.
In good condition, with beautiful hand-colour, the digital image does not do justice to this fine antique print. the image is a close-up. Full page size is 370 x 535 mm (14.5 x 21 inches), as published.
