Superb original hand-coloured lithograph by John Gould and Henry Constantine Richter for Gould’s Monograph of the Trochilidae, or Family of Humming-birds published in London between 1849 and 1861.

This is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful of Gould's Humming-bird lithographs. The depiction of the hummingbird among orchids, is shown beautifully with colour, light and movement all transposed into this beautiful illustration.
