Original copperplate engraving of design by architect and engraver, Jacques Androuet du Cerceau (1510-1584). This is a fine engraving from a collection of the beautiful designs for architectural ornamentation, of 16th, 17th and 18th century apartments in Paris. Reprinted by Charles Chardon the Elder, and published in Paris circa 1863 by Georges Rapilly.

Page size 44 x 31cm (17.25 x 12.25 inches). Measurement to intaglio impression is approximately 350 x 175mm (13.75 x 7 inches). This image has later hand-colour, entirely in keeping with the style and period of the subject.
