Carman black grapes. Hedrick Grapes, half-price lithograph c1908.

by Hedrick, U.P.

Beautiful bunch of grapes and foliage antique print.

Original fine colour-printed photolithograph for The United States Department of Agriculture's The Grapes of New York by horticulturist Ulysses Prentiss Hedrick (1870-1951).

From 1905 to 1925, the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station published wonderful fruit lithographs to promote the growing of fruit crops in the United States. Hedrick continued the series over 18 years after the turn of the century, with illustrations in this larger format - including grapes, plums, cherries, peaches, pears and small fruits.

This is a beautiful image, full size on the page, with both sides of the page cropping the grape leaves. Page size is 280 x 225mm (11.75 x 9.25 inches). Slight damage at the left edge of paper with 2 spots showing at the extreme edge of this picture (main damage is from where print was glued). Price generously reduced.
