Nash, Staircase, Knowle, Kent. Large antique print c1840.

by Nash, Joseph

Fabulous ceiling detail, window glazing, carvings and mouldings. Large lithograph of beautifully dressed ladies, child and dog.

Original lithograph printed in colour and finished by hand, after architectural draughtsman Joseph Nash (born Buckinghamshire 1809-died Kensington 1878). for “The Mansions of England in the Olden Times” published in London 1839-1849 by Thoomas McLean (British, 1788-1875, and printed by Charles Joseph Hullmandel (London, 1789-1850). Joseph Nash studied with the artist and architect, Augustus Charles Pugin.

This is a large print, and the image only just fitted on the scanner. The lithograph is beautiful, printed on thick soft paper, with large margins all round as published. Apart from a little age discolouration soiling in the margins, it is in fine condition.
