Antique print of elegant Inigo Jones window designs. Upper: Doric, Ionic and Corinthian. Lower: same, "without Pilasters or Columns. The height of the circular Opening of the Window, is twice the Breadth to the Center of the Arch; the Height of the rest are twice the Breadth.

Publifh'd by William Kent, With some Additional Designs. Considered to be the 'father of classical English architecture', Inigo Jones (1573-1652), was the first to introduce classical Italian Renaissance architecture to Gothic Britain, and believed strict mathematical proportion should control plan, elevation and all structure.

Henrik Hulsbergh (fl.1709-1729), was born in Amsterdam, and worked in London from 1709.
Henry Flitcroft (1697-1769) was born in Twickenham, the son of a labourer in the employ of William III, in the gardens of Hampton Court Palace. Henry was apprenticed to a joiner and worked as a carpenter at Burlington House - until he fell from a scaffold, broke his leg, and came to the attention of Lord Burlington who became his Patron and managed his architectural training. 'Burlington Harry' became Master Carpenter between 1746 and 1748, went on to become Deputy Surveyor, and then succeeded Thomas Ripley as Comptroller of the Works and lived in the former Master Mason's House.

With decorative later hand-colour, this engraving is in good condition. Page size is 505 x 350mm (19.7/8 x 13.3/4 inches). Size to plate mark is 380 x 255mm (15 x 10 inches).
