Original copperplate engraving for Rules of the Five Orders of Architecture by Vignola. Published in Paris circa 1779 (with later colour), but first published in Rome in 1563 for Regole della Cinque Ordini d'Architettura (Rules of the Five Orders of Architecture), written by the important Italian architect, Giacomo Barozzi da Vignola (1507-1573).

Vignola based his Five Orders on the 10 volume work on architecture and building methods De Architectura... written in the 1st century by Roman architect and engineer, Marco Vitruvius Pollio (known as Vitruvius) who dedicated his work to his patron Caesar Augustus. Barozzi's influential work was published in a number of languages over hundreds of years.

From this larger 18th century edtion, we have three engravings of Columns that would look wonderful in a group - either individually framed, or together in one frame: a 'show-stopper' for $525... or $420? (Please emall for 20% discount.) 
The size of this engraving is 25 x 18cm (10 x 7 inches). To the outer border line measures 205 x 135 mm (8 x 5 3/8 inches).
