Antique print of Bird Feathers: Kiwi, Emu, Cassowary.

Original hand-coloured lithograph by eminent bird illustrator and naturalist John Gerrard Keulemans (1842-1912) for George Rowley's Ornithological Miscellany published in London between 1875 and 1878.

Keulemans' lithographs were scientifically correct as well as artistic. In 1869 fellow ornithologist and colleague of John Gould, Richard Bowdler-Sharp persuaded the well-travelled Dutchman JG Keulemans to move from Brussels to London, the most important centre for publications illustrating birds.

Size of plate, as published, is 365 x 250mm (14 3/8 x 9 3/4 inches). There is very faint offsetting from adjacent print page.
