Original colour-printed lithograph by John Gerrard Keulemans (1842-1912) for George Rowley's Ornithological Miscellany published in London.

Keulemans' lithographs were scientifically correct as well as artistic. In 1869 fellow ornithologist and colleague of John Gould, Richard Bowdler-Sharp persuaded the well-travelled Dutchman JG Keulemans to move from Brussels to London, the most important centre for publications illustrating birds.

Size of plate, as published, is 365 x 250mm (14 3/8 x 9 3/4 inches).
