Etching of the Chateau de la Poinssonniere ou est ne Ronsard.
A quiet country manor house of  La Poissonniere (literally translated as the Female Fishmonger (fish-seller). La Poissonniere (near the village of Couture in the Department of Loir et Cher), gained recognition as the place where the poet Pierre de Ronsard was born in 1524. Ronsard died in Tours in 1585. During his life he became known in France as "the prince of poets".

Original etching by Louis Armand Queyroy (1830-1893) of La Poissonniere in 1872. Printed by Francois Lienard in Paris for the Gazette des Beaux-Arts.
