Original hand-coloured steel engraving c1835 by Pauquet for Zoology Professor at the Paris Natural History Museum, Bernard G.E. Delaville, Comte de Lacepede’s “Serpens” (Serpents or Snakes) for an update of Histoire Naturelle, Generale et Particuliere... (Natural History, General and Specific...), published between 1749 and 1788 by George-Louis Leclerc, Comte de Buffon (1707-1788).

This small colourful engraving has slight soiling along the page edges. The page is approximately 22 x 13 cm (8.75 x 5.25 inches). To the line border measures approximately 165 x 95cm (6.5 x 3.75 inches).
