Sloths chromolithograph c1869 for Brehm's Illustrirtes Tierleben (Illustrations of Animal Life), by German zoologist, writer and director of Zoological gardens, Alfred Edmund Brehm (1829-1884).

Published in Leipzig, Germany between 1864 and 1869, the quality of colour-printing for these lithographs was superb. Brehm's Tierleben was republished in Austria between 1894-1896, and was published in London, also between 1894 and 1896 as The Royal Natural History.
