Rare exquisitely engraved Australian Melaleuca Myrtifolia, large Redouté c1800

Rare exquisitely engraved Australian Melaleuca Myrtifolia, large Redouté c1800

by Redouté, Pierre Joseph

Beautiful rare antique print of paperbark, Melaleuca myrtifolia c1805.

Large, original superb stipple engraving by Veron (printed in colour and finished by hand) with superb uncoloured dissections of the flower and stamens to the left at the base of the main image - after the painting by Pierre Joseph Redouté for Jardin de la Malmaison (Garden of Malmaison) by Etienne Pierre Ventenat, published in Paris between 1803 and 1805.

It is unfortunate that the condition of the paper is not good. Please contact us for a close-up of the damaged area to the base of the image. The work has been expertly restored, and is sold mounted in conservation board, front and back. The price has been adjusted in recognition of the condition of the paper. It is still an exquisite stipple engraving of a beautiful, and near-endangered Australian small tree.

This image is rather large, 55cm x 36 cm ( 21.5 x 14 inches), too large for the scanner, so scanned image shows the beauty of the botanical image, rather than the title and base of page. As there is damage towards the base of the page, please request further images.
