Banded Hare Wallaby antique print. Lagostrophus fasciatus (Mernine or Munning pouched) is a endangered species, now mainly inhabiting islands off Western Australia, north of Geraldton .

Wonderful original hand-coloured lithograph of Das gestreiste Kanguruh (Famielie) (Pouched Kangaroo family) for Naturhistorische Bilder-Gallerie aus dem Thierreiche (Natural History Gallery of the Animal Kingdom) published in Switzerland c1840 by lithographer, printer, bookseller, Joseph Brodtmann (1787-1862). Brodtmann was born in German but moved to Switzerland for work and remained there the rest of his life.

On hand-laid paper, this wonderful little print is a little soiled. The size of this wonderful engraving is reduced, as mounted (half-framed) between rag mat conservation board, and covered with cellophane for presentation and also for protective handling. Mount window size is 150 x 185mm (5 7/8 x 7 1/4 inches). External size for frame window is 270 x 305mm (10 5/8 x 12 inches)
