Antique print of Australian Snakes at London Zoo. Australian venemous serpents recently added to the collection of reptiles in the gardens of the Zoological Society, Regent's Park".

Original wood engraving published in London circa 1870 (with later hand-colour). I don't think I'd enjoy sitting there drawing them while they slither around... although you must still admit that it's a wonderfully 'graphic' image - not only for the avid herpetologists!

This engraving appeared in a 19th century periodical, as an illustration surrounded by printing, and with printing on the rear. The paper is rather thin, but if black board or paper is put behind the image when it is framed it will stand out more clearly and the appearance of the printing will be minimized.

Window for framing would be around 150 x 245mm (around 6 x 9 5/8 inches).
