Rare antique print of Australian Wattle Bird c1789, engraved by fine Welsh natural history draughtsman and engraver, Sydenham Teast Edwards (1768-1819) after Ann Latham (1772-1835), daughter of English ornithologist John Latham (1740-1837). 

Hand-coloured original copperplate engraving for Voyage of Governor Phillip to Botany Bay; with an Account of the Establishment of the Colonies of Port Jackson & Norfolk Island printed in London circa 1789 by John Stockdale.

This engraving has fine later hand-colour. There is slight nick in extremity of page mid-left, but the engraving is in marvellous condition considering its age.
Page size: 295mm x 220mm (11.5/8 x 8.7/8 inches). To plate mark: 260 x 190 (10.1/4 x 7.1/2 inches).
