The Emeu. New Holland Cassowary with Chick c1851.

by Bicknell, William I.

Australian Emu with Young, Dromiceius Australis antique print.

Original colour-printed wood engraving published in London and New York circa 1851 by John Tallis and Company for The Natural History of the Sacred Scriptures and General Zoology, a small mid-nineteenth century children's guide to natural history, by William I. Bicknell. This is a simple and charming cockatoo illustrated against a sepia background with a subtle title and simply embellished corners to its border.

Printed on a sepia-toned background, this Australian Emu antique print is currently mounted in dark green matboard with 2 gold lines, and fomecor backing ready for frame - covered with cellophane for protective handling. Only one corner of mount is shown, to enable the image to be as large as possible. If you would like further images please contact us.
This Emu would make a wonderful pair with the next item, the Australian Sulphur-crested Cockatoo (which is also available partially framed, like this one.)

In good condition, the page measures 120 x165mm (6.5 x 4.75 inches). This engraving is mounted similarly to next item - in dark green matboard with 2 gold lines, and fomecor backing ready for frame - covered with cellophane for protective handling. External measurement for framing is 305 x 255mm (12 x 10 inches).
