Sulphur-crested Cockatoo colour-printed engraving by William Bicknell c1859.

by Bicknell, William I.

Australian Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo with yellow crest, antique print.

Wonderful original colour-printed wood engraving published in London and New York circa 1851 by John Tallis and Company for The Natural History of the Sacred Scriptures and General Zoology, a small mid-nineteenth century children's guide to natural history, by William I. Bicknell. This is a simple and charming cockatoo illustrated against a sepia background with a subtle title and simply embellished corners to its border.

In good condition, the page measures 120 x165mm (6.5 x 4.75 inches). This engraving is mounted similarly to previous item - in dark green matboard with 2 gold lines, and fomecor backing ready for frame - covered with cellophane for protective handling. External measurement for framing is 305 x 255mm (12 x 10 inches).
