Fine hand-coloured Antique Print of Birds. Order: Cursores Grallae. Genera Dromaius, Atperyx, Otis, Oedienemus. Families: Struthionidae, Apterydridae, Otididae, Charadriidae - Dromaius. Novae-Hollandiae - Emeu (Emu).  Apteryx Australis - Shaw's Apteryx (New Zealand Kiwi).  Otis Tarda - Great Bustard.  Oedienemus Crepitans - Common Thick-Knee (Stone Curlew).

Original hand-coloured engraving by J. W. Lowry for The Museum of Natural History by William Dallas, published circa 1850-1860 by William Mackenzie, Glasgow, Edinburgh, London & New-York. This is a wonderful selection of distinctively Australasian birds. Joseph Wilson Lowry (1803-1879) was an English engraver and the son of engraver Wilson Lowry.
