Antique print of Green Parrot and Mascarene Parrot. Fine French hand-coloured antique print of parrots c1837.

Original hand-coloured engraving by Madame Thorel after the drawing by eminent natural history artist, Edouard Travies (1809-1859). It was published in Paris c1837 by Lacapede who worked with Buffon and later updated the Complete Works of Buffon. Travies worked with eminent scientists and exhibited his work at the Paris Salon.

Although the beautiful hand-colour is crisp and clean there is age-discolouration of the paper. The page size is 245 x 160mm. This lovely print is partially framed, mounted between 'antique white' ragmat conservation board. The window size is 180 x 120mm (7 x 4 3/4 inches). External size for frame is 300 x 240mm.
