Antique Map of Steam Navigation track and Overland Route through Europe, an the Telegraph lines to Australia, shown in two sections: British Islands to Ceylon (Sri Lanka), and Ceylon to Australia.

Original antique map by William Hughes, Professor of Geography at the College of Civil Engineers in London. Colour-printed when published by Virtue and Co. in London circa 1874. This is an interesting map with the repetition of Australia on the left and right sides of the map showing clearly its position in the Mercator Projection of the World.

This is an interesting little map that prompts the imagination of times long ago. To its border this map measures 180 x 237mm (approximately 7 x 9.25 inches). with the lower left edge of Australia extending slightly through this border on the lower side of the maps.
