Original antique map engraved by J. & C. Walker of London. Published circa 1829 by respected map publishers, J. Murray of Albermarle Street, London. Engravers, draughtsmen and publishers, John, Alexander and Charles Walker were known as J. & C. Walker. They flourished as producers of interesting maps in London from 1820-1895. They published their “Royal Atlas” with several reissues, and engraved many maps and charts for the British Admiralty. J & C Walker are best known, however, for their maps for the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge (S.D.U.K.) whose aim was to publish educational works that were affordable by all.
