Original map engraved on steel (with contemporary outlining to landmasses, and colour to ocean) by well-known mapmaker Alexander Findlay for his “Modern Atlas” published in London circa 1853 by William Tegg & Co.

This is obviously from a well-loved publication! "France" is written on the reverse in Indian ink (fortunately not showing through to front) and the lower right corner of the paper is missing, with slight soiling to extremities of the page - not detracting from a quite attractive map.
