Drome French Department antique map by Vuillemin c1875

by Vuillemin, Alexandre

This fine original antique map of Drome Department in France, by geographer Alexandre Vuillemin. Drawn by Isidore and engraved by Villerey, for La France published in Paris circa 1875.

This is a very decorative antique map of Drome in the Rhone-Alpes. The regions of the Department were coloured at the time of publication. Fine hand-colour has been added some time since, to the vignette engravings of the main city of Valence, the grand bridge of Valence, and the portrait of Jean Etienne Vachier, known as General Championnet, of Napoleon's army. The addition of the Coat of Arms of the city of Valence, and swirls of grape vines, flowers and leaves makes this a very pretty map.

To the line border around the map the measurement is 225 x 190 mm (approximately 9 x 7.5 inches).
