DENMARK With North-West portion of the German Empire comprising Schleswig, Holstein & Lauenburg, HANOVER, Brunswick, Mecklenburg, Oldenburg, Anhalt, Lippe &c. by Keith Johnston F.R.S.E. circa 1875.

Wonderfully detailed original map with contemporary colour, by Queen’s Geographer, Keith Johnston (1804-1871), F.R.S.E. (Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh), engraved by W. & A.K. Johnston of Edinburgh for Johnston's General Atlas, a fine work, first published in 1861 by William Blackwood and Sons, Edinburgh & London, and reissued several times until 1889. 
Starting as a printer in 1825, Sir William Johnston (1802-1888) founded the family publishing firm. Younger brother, Alexander Keith Johnston (1804-1871) joined the family business, completed his university studies, then trained with a number of international geographers. He was appointed royal geographer. 

Good condition except for the slight discolouration along the horizontal centrefold, and the small hole at the centre of the paper at the right end of fold. Price adjusted accordingly.
