The Republic of Genoa ceded Corsica to France in 1768. Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1870), was a military leader in France during the Revolutionary and Napoleonice Wars from 1796 to 1815, and was French Emperor from 1804-1814 and in 1815.

Original antique map engraved on steel by Ales for Petit Atlas National des 86 Departements de la France et de Colonies (Small National Atlas of the 86 Departments of France and Her Colonies) by Charles V. Monin, published in Paris circa 1833 (with fine later colour). This map shows the town of Ajaccio and the surrounding areas, and also lists statistics for the period.

Map size is 25 x 20cm (10 x 8 inches), with full borders. Page size is 12 x 10 inches (approx. 30 x 20.5cm) Paper slightly stretched during printing and there is very faint soiling.
