Antique map of Europe after the Invasion of the Barbarians. Callewaert map c1870. With scale of measurement at the base, this small map was printed and lithographed by Callewaert brothers in Brussels circa 1870.

The Barbarians invaded the Roman Empire as it fell into moral and political decay, with unsustainable agriculture for its own support. The glory of the Roman Empire war surplanted by wealth, vice, corruption.. and barbarism followed. The Barbarians were Germanic or Teutonic peoples believed to have come from southern Sweden, the Danish Peninsula, and northern Germany.

Fine paper, fair condition, this small page measures 175 x 220mm (6.7/8 x 8.5/8 inches). To map border measures 15 x 19cm (5.7/8 x 7.1/2 inches)
