Antique map of Australia, printed in colour, with the correct state borders, and inset of Tasmania. Railways are marked, but only extend north from Sydney to Tamworth (in 1878), west to Orange (in 1877), and south to Waggawagga (sic.) (in 1879).  Ipswich to Granchester (38km, the first Queensland railway opened. It extended to Toowomba (in 1876), Dalby (in 1868) and Warwick (in 1871). The railway link between Brisbane and Ipswich was completed in 1876 when the Indooroopilly bridge was constructed across the Brisbane River, however, this railway is not shown on the map. (That's if you are at all interested in railways..!)

This is an antique map by Frank A. Gray, engraved by W.H. Holmes, printed in colour and published in Philadelphia circa 1880 by Ormando Willis Gray & Son. On the reverse is a map of Palestine with inset of Arabia Petraea.

Map page size 370 x 440mm (14.75 x 17.5 inches). The map extends beyond the border, and the map has wide margins, but unfortunately our scanner is not large enough to show these. If you would like further images of edges, please email sales@antiqueprintclub.com
